My skin is very dry during the winter; do you have a few tips?
Yes - hydrate your skin from the outside in. As the weather gets crisper and drier, you may want to apply a light moisturizer more frequently OR switch to a heavier moisturizer and eye cream to keep skin well hydrated. Since it’s the outside humidity that determines how dry your skin is – not how much water you consume – if you’re feeling dry, slather on that moisturizer. Rodan + Fields offers ESSENTIALS Moisturize with Melaslow. This light-weight lotion dries to a matte finish to help hydrate and lock in moisture. Our SOOTHE Sensitive Skin Treatment not only moisturizes skin but reduces redness, dryness, peeling and irritation in as little as five minutes. And since the humidity in your house should be kept at 50%, remember to turn on the humidifier.

I’ve been so cold lately that I take a long hot bath to warm up, but now my skin is really dry and flaky. What should I do?

Although you may be tempted to take long, hot baths or showers to ward of that winter chill, avoid them; they actually draw moisture out of your skin and make you itchy.  Instead, go for tepid, quick showers.  If you soak in a warm bath, we recommend using bath oil. Other tips: Use a loofah sponge or a body micro-dermabrasion product regularly with warm water to boost circulation and remove dead skin cells. Follow this by applying a heavy moisturizer to damp skin after bathing or showering to seal in extra moisture. Use products containing humectants such as glycerin, ceramides or triglycerides to attract water to skin and hold onto moisture. Keep humidity in your home at about 50% or use a humidifier.
